Bringing together the quiet utility of Tokoname ware and the vivid elegance of Kutani artistry, this kyusu teapot is a graceful expression of two enduring ceramic traditions. Its deep blue-green surface is accented with delicate cherry blossoms and fine gold detailing, creating a design reminiscent of sakura under moonlight. Refined yet practical, the form is light in hand and thoughtfully balanced for everyday tea brewing.

This piece is part of the Kakosei series, a collaborative work between Tokoname master potter Gyokko Kiln (Hirotaka Umehara) and Kutani overglaze artist Tsugumori Tamura. Hand-shaped in Tokoname using richly finished clay, it reflects Gyokko’s pursuit of simplicity, lightness, and ease of use. From the smooth precision of the fitted lid to the comfortable grip of the side handle, each detail is shaped with the user in mind. Umehara, the second-generation head of Gyokko Kiln, has been recognized with numerous honors for his craftsmanship, including distinctions from Aichi Prefecture and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Brew with a teapot that turns daily ritual into quiet ceremony. Elegant in both form and function, this kyusu offers a beautifully crafted way to bring depth, color, and intention to every cup.
