Immerse yourself in the quiet grace of Japanese tea culture with this teapot, a piece where refined craftsmanship meets the warmth of human touch.
Tokoname City, site of one of Japan’s Rokkoyō (Six Ancient Kilns), has flourished for over a millennium along the western coast of Aichi Prefecture’s Chita Peninsula. Known for its smooth clay texture and natural hues, Tokoname ware embodies both functional beauty and enduring artistry, qualities long cherished by tea connoisseurs.
Handmade by Yutaka Tsuzuki of Daikōji Kiln, a certified Traditional Craft Artisan, this teapot reflects the artist’s signature harmony of elegance and precision. Tsuzuki's works bring to life forms that are both tactile and serene.
The Sakura design draws inspiration from blooming petals, expressed through the inka technique, or fine stamped patterns that lend a soft rhythm to the surface. A lustrous glaze reminiscent of a jewel box enhances its quiet radiance, while the smooth, skin-like texture invites the hand to pour. Within, a specially-designed sasame ceramic strainer ensures a clean, even pour-- the defining hallmark of Tokoname craftsmanship.
